Why Mighty Pumps

What Makes Us Different

Premium ingredients, real food inclusions, a carb that's easy on the stomach, and electrolytes added. Here's what's in the bag and the research behind why it matters.

01

Premium Ingredients

Every bag starts with a premium cream of rice base and is naturally flavored, as printed on the front of every bag. We're a small family business, and we choose every ingredient with care.

What's in the bag

Cream of rice base, naturally flavored.

Base: jasmine rice. Full ingredient lists are on each flavor's page.

Sweetened with: stevia, monk fruit and allulose. 0g added sugar and no artificial sweeteners.

On the label: vegan · gluten free · Made in USA.

02

Real Food Inclusions

Four of our flavors don't just taste like the dessert. They're made with real nut pieces: pecans in Apple Fritter, walnuts in Banana Bread, peanuts in PB Lava Cake and almonds in Strawberry Shortcake.

Peanuts and tree nuts are major food allergens, so we call them out clearly on every product, the same way the FDA asks food labels to with a "Contains" statement.[5]

03

Easy Digestion

Cream of rice is a cooked, refined rice cereal. The National Cancer Institute lists cooked refined cereals such as Cream of Rice among low-fiber foods.[2] That puts it right in line with the low-fiber, easy-to-digest pre-workout carbs sports dietitians describe below.

Why it matters

The joint position paper from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Dietitians of Canada and the American College of Sports Medicine says that before an event, "foods with a low-fat, low fibre, and low-moderate protein content are the preferred choice … since they are less prone to cause gastrointestinal problems and promote gastric emptying."[1]

The same paper notes pre-event food choices should be individualized and well trialed, because everyone's tolerance is different.[1]

04

Electrolytes Added

Every Mighty Pumps flavor has electrolytes added, so your pre-workout carbs and electrolytes come in the same bowl.

Per serving: sodium 140–160mg · potassium 280–320mg · magnesium 25mg

Why it matters

Sodium helps control the amount of fluid in the body, and potassium helps your cells, heart and muscles work properly.[3]

Sweat contains substantial but variable amounts of sodium, with lesser amounts of potassium, and sodium consumed in pre-exercise foods and fluids may help with fluid retention.[1]

The American College of Sports Medicine notes that consuming beverages with electrolytes and carbohydrates during exercise "can provide benefits over water alone under certain circumstances."[4]

What Customers Are Saying

  • "I'm blown away. Worth every penny. It took months for me to spend the money and I now wish I did sooner. I genuinely think about this cream of rice all the time. The banana nut bread flavor is spot on. I've made it as a regular cream of rice bowl and as muffins, pancakes, and waffles. Not sure I can go back to any other brand. Good job guys!"

  • "10/10. I was skeptical because how clean the ingredients are but it mixes well, has a great taste and consistency with no chemical aftertaste and it needs nothing to make it better. Probably the best imitation of a banana bread flavor I've had from any company."
